We have been successful in our application for funding from Awards for All thanks to Debbie's stirling work in putting together all the information for the application. The grant will enable us to make the pavilion the heart of our allotment community without costing the earth or increasing our running costs.
We will be installing solar panels to provide light, a wood-burning stove to provide almost instant heat (an additional container will allow us to store wood), and new windows to make sure the heat doesn't escape.
Part of the deal is that we will construct a ramp to allow disabled access into the pavilion. All the work has to be completed by November 2008. This is really fantastic news and once the work has been completed, we really want everyone to make full use of this improved facility which is there for all.
