Old Trafford Amateur Gardeners’ Society in partnership with CrackingGood Food is holding a preserving workshop on Saturday, 10th September2011 from 4.30pm to 7.30pm.The facilitator is Vicki Leng who has a lot of experience ofpreserving produce and of teaching and demonstrating cookingtechniques. The session will focus on low-carbon options forpreserving fruit and veg to enjoy throughout the winter. Participantswill learn how to make dried apple rings, dill pickle, salted beans,dried tomatoes and more! It is suitable for people with little or noprevious experience of preserving food.One preserving jar per person will be provided but participants arealso welcome to bring along sterilised jars (either 226g or 454g). Thebottled produce will be available to take home at the end of thesession.The venue is Firswood Community Centre, The Quadrant, Greatstone Road,Stretford M32 8QS. This is on the edge of Longford Park and just a fewminutes away from Seymour Grove Allotments.Light refreshments will be available for participants.This workshop is free to attend as we have received funding from theLocal Food Fund to run it. However, spaces are limited to 12 so pleasesend a refundable deposit of £10 to secure your place.I will confirm your place on receipt of a cheque. Cheques should bemade out to Old Trafford Amateur Gardeners’ Society and sent to LauraMackey, 24 Lime Grove, Old Trafford, Manchester M16 0NN. Attendeeswill receive their cheques back uncashed and people who don’t turn upon the day will be making a £10 donation to the upkeep of SeymourGrove allotments!
